Why are there different customer notification requirements for direct debit and recurring card payments?
There are strict industry requirements for notifying customers about upcoming direct debits from the customer’s bank account. These requirements don’t apply when notifying customers about upcoming recurring payments from a customer’s credit or debit card.
However Fetch recommends that merchants notify their customers about each recurring card payment just as they do for direct debits to a customer’s bank account i.e at least 10 days before the payment.
